Step-by-step guides for the Ohio 8-Hour Adult Remedial Driving Course, from enrolling to using your certificate.
How to enroll
- Click Start the Course on any page
- Enter your name, date of birth, Ohio driver license number and contact details exactly as they appear on your license
- Read and accept the enrollment contract Ohio requires
- Pay $69.95 by card. Nothing else is charged
- You receive a confirmation email with your login link
How to log in
- Open the login page and enter your email and password
- Enter the six-digit code we email you. This is required every time, as part of identity verification
- Click Continue Course to pick up exactly where you left off
How the timer and modules work
- Your eight hours are counted by a timer that is always visible: today's time and total time
- Work through the modules in order. Each one has a minimum time set by the course
- Breaks are fine. The timer pauses when you are away and does not count break time, as Ohio requires
- Each unit ends with a knowledge check. You need 80%. If you miss it, you see the correct answers with reasons and take a fresh set
Note: Switching tabs or windows pauses the timer. Keep the course in front while you are reading.
The identity questions
- After every two hours of instruction, and once more before the final exam, the course asks you a question only you would know
- Answer it and continue
- A wrong answer gives you one more try
- A second wrong answer locks the course for 24 hours. This is an Ohio rule, and we cannot override it
How to take the final exam
- Finish every module and knowledge check first
- The exam is 40 questions, graded when you submit. Course content is locked while the exam is open
- You need 30 of 40 correct (75%)
- If you miss it, your retake unlocks 24 hours later. We show the exact time and email you when it opens
- A second failure means retaking the course, by Ohio rule
How to get your certificate
- After you pass, our staff enter your completion in Ohio's DETS system, which is linked to the BMV
- We email you the signed certificate PDF, usually the same business day
- Download it and keep a copy. Courts cannot see the state record, only the BMV can
- Need another copy? Ask support. One free duplicate within 30 days
How to apply for the two-point credit
- Confirm you had at least 2 and fewer than 12 points, and have not used the credit in the last three years
- Take your certificate to the Ohio BMV, or follow the instructions the BMV provides for submitting proof of completion
- The registrar applies the credit to your record. It does not remove any existing points
Note: If a judge ordered the course, no credit is available by statute.
How to reinstate after a 12-point suspension
- Serve the suspension period the BMV set
- Complete this course and download your certificate
- Retake the complete driver license exam at the BMV
- Have your insurer file an SR-22 with the BMV for the period the BMV requires
- Pay the reinstatement fee to the BMV
Note: The BMV lists your exact requirements in your suspension notice and on your record. Follow that list.
