You have 30 days from the moment you start. Then Ohio makes you start over.
Ohio Administrative Code 4501-21-14 requires every student to finish the full eight hours within thirty days of the date and time they first open the course content. Miss it and the state requires the course to begin again from zero. The clock starts when you open Module 1, not when you pay, so enroll now and begin when you can finish.

Questions people actually ask
Does the Ohio remedial course take points off my record?
No, and be wary of any course that says it does. The Ohio BMV states that completing the course "does not remove points from your record, but can act as a cushion against future convictions." The two-point credit raises the threshold at which a twelve-point suspension is triggered. Your convictions and their points stay on the record and remain visible to insurers.
Who qualifies for the two-point credit?
A driver with at least two but fewer than twelve points on their Ohio record, who has not used the credit in the past three years and has used it fewer than five times in their lifetime. A course taken under a judge's order earns no credit.
How often can I take it for the credit?
Once every three years, and five times in a lifetime. Ohio Revised Code 4510.037 sets both limits.
I got a 12-point suspension. Is this the course I need?
Yes. After a twelve-point suspension Ohio requires an approved remedial driving course, a retake of the complete driver license exam, proof of financial responsibility on file with the BMV, and a reinstatement fee. This course satisfies the first requirement. The other three happen at the BMV.
How long does the course take?
Eight hours of measured instruction. Ohio credits only real time on the content, so the timer is on screen the whole way and break time is not counted. Most people finish across three or four sittings.
How long do I have to finish?
Thirty days from the date and time you first open the course content, set by Ohio Administrative Code 4501-21-14. After thirty days Ohio requires the course to start again. The clock starts when you open Module 1, not when you pay.
What is the final exam like?
Forty questions drawn from a state-required bank of at least 120, graded when you finish, 75% to pass. Course content is locked while the exam is open. If you miss it, you get one retake no sooner than 24 hours later, and we email you the moment it unlocks.
What if I fail the exam twice?
Ohio's rule is that a second failure means retaking the course. We tell you that here rather than at the end. The unit knowledge checks are built to make sure you are ready before you ever see the final.
