What this course does for a Idaho driver, and how you get through it

Three points removed, once every three years

Idaho's administrative rule for defensive driving courses provides that three points may be removed from a driver's record on completion of an approved course, and that points may be removed this way only once every three years.

The citation is paid first, and the conviction stays

The reduction applies to points, not to the citation. Any outstanding citation must be paid before ITD applies the reduction, and the conviction remains on your record.

Idaho has no provider reporting system. You receive a certificate on completion and deliver it to ITD by email or mail. ITD applies the reduction to your record.
