Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the initial appearance date shown on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days after the judge grants the request — both the DSC certificate and certified driving record must be submitted within 90 days.
- •Ineligible offenses include: leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing police, reckless driving, failing to stop for a school bus, speeding 25+ mph over the limit, speeding 95 mph or more regardless of posted limit, construction zone violations with workers present, and serious commercial vehicle violations.
- •Unrestrained Child charges are DSC-eligible only via a specialized course that includes 4 hours of instruction on child passenger safety restraints.
- •Eligibility requires no DSC or motorcycle operator course completion in the 12 months preceding the offense, no concurrent DSC for another violation, no CDL, and being a named covered driver on an auto insurance policy.
- •Failure to submit the certificate and driving record within 90 days triggers a Show Cause Hearing; failure to appear results in 'a conviction against you for the offense, and the maximum fine will be imposed.'
