Keller Municipal Court — Driver Safety Course Instructions
DSC Court Fees
⚠ Joint Keller-Colleyville court lists DSC court costs as $144.00 for standard qualifying violations and $169.00 for school zone violations, plus a $10.00 administrative fee to the court when requesting the driving safety course. Confirm exact amount with the court at (817) 503-1300 #177.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit (copy required with request)
- •Current proof of liability insurance with defendant listed as a driver (court accepts paper copy only)
- •Uniform Certificate of Course Completion from a TDLR/TEA-approved driving safety course (court copy)
- •Affidavit stating you have not taken a driving safety course for a traffic offense in the past 12 months
- •Payment of court costs plus $10.00 administrative fee
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified Type 3A driving record from Texas DPS ($10 by mail / $12 online)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request the DSC option on or before the appearance date shown on the lower portion of the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days — prosecution is postponed 90 days; certificate of completion and certified driving record must be filed with the court within that window.
- •DIRECTORY FIX CONFIRMED: the official Keller site is cityofkeller.com, but since Oct. 1, 2012 Keller and Colleyville operate a single merged municipal court (first of its kind in Texas) housed at the Colleyville Justice Center, 5201 Riverwalk Dr., Colleyville, TX 76034 — so Colleyville contact info is partially correct for court operations, but Keller's own court pages live at cityofkeller.com/services/municipal-court
- •Court warns verbatim: 'Do not wait until your deadline to take the driver's safety class. Your Certificate of Completion and Driving Record will be mailed to you.'
- •Verbatim restriction: 'Do not take the course before obtaining court approval.'
- •The court does not offer driver's safety classes itself — the class must be state-certified (TDLR/TEA approved)
