DSC Court Fees
⚠ The court's mail-in DSC request form states court costs of $144 (regular zone) / $169 (school zone). An older court information sheet lists $114 / $139 — call (817) 568-3046 to confirm the current amount before sending payment.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit (non-CDL; military ID accepted)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance in your name or listing you as a covered driver)
- •Check or money order for the court fee (mail/fax requests)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of your driving record (TX DPS Type 3A) — due with the completion certificate
- •TEA-approved driving safety course certificate of completion (original court copy)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made on or before the appearance date on your citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from the request to complete the course and present the completion certificate and driving record to the court; failure triggers a show-cause hearing and possible fine/warrant.
- •Eligibility: at least 17 years old; no DSC dismissal in the last 12 months and not currently taking one for another citation; speeding not more than 24 MPH over the limit; not in a construction zone with workers present; not for passing a school bus; no CDL.
- •The request form is a plea of no contest and waiver of jury trial.
- •Driving record must be the certified DPS Type 3A report from txapps.texas.gov.
- •If proof of completion is not submitted within 90 days, the court requires appearance at a show-cause hearing.
