DSC Court Fees
⚠ Tarrant County's Justice of the Peace courts charge a uniform $144 to take a driving safety course — $134 in court costs plus a $10 administrative fee. Confirm with this precinct before paying.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Driving Safety Course Request form (notarized if mailed)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (auto liability insurance)
- •Texas Driving Record Type 3A from Texas DPS (filed with the court along with your request form)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of Completion from an approved Texas State Certified Driving Safety Course
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Completion window: 90 days from your request to complete the driving safety course; the full $144 must be paid at the time of the DSC request.
- •CDL holders are not eligible for DSC dismissal.
- •Ineligible if charged with speeding 95 mph or more, speeding 25+ mph over the posted limit, or any offense in a construction/maintenance zone when workers are present.
- •Ineligible if charged with passing a school bus or failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
- •Must not have taken a driving safety course within the 12 months preceding the citation date.
- •Moving violations only; must plead guilty or no contest.
