Waco Municipal Court — Driver Safety Course Instructions
DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the court's official Court Programs page: 'You must submit a $144.00 fee or $169.00 if in a school zone, at the time you request to take the Driving Safety Course.' Separate from course tuition.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License (copy)
- •Proof of current liability insurance in the name of the person cited
- •Plea of 'No Contest' plus a written, signed DSC request (space is provided on the back of your citation copy)
- •$144.00 fee ($169.00 if in a school zone), due at the time of the request
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion — return the signed copy designated 'Court Copy' (do NOT return the 'Insurance Copy')
- •Certified copy of your driving record from the Driver Records Bureau, Texas DPS, P.O. Box 15999, Austin, TX 78761-5999 ($10.00 fee; mailed to you)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Official request deadline: 'You may request this option, by mail, online or by appearance in person, before the Municipal Court within 10 calendar days (not 10 working days) from the date you were issued the citation.'
- •You must take the course within 90 days from the date of the Order Granting the Driving Safety Course; the signed 'Court Copy' certificate and certified driving record are both due by the due date on the Order.
- •Ineligible offenses (standard TX): speeding 25+ mph over limit, no insurance/failure to maintain financial responsibility, leaving scene of collision, passing a school bus, offense in a construction/work zone.
- •DSC can only be used once per 12-month period statewide.
