DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs are due at the time of the DSC request, along with a guilty or no contest plea and proof of insurance. The $10 administrative fee is included in the totals.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Sworn affidavit that you were not taking a driving safety course at the time of the request
- •At time of request: proof of financial responsibility (insurance) and a Texas driver's license/permit or proof of active-duty U.S. military service
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (TDLR-approved course, or DPS-approved motorcycle operator course)
- •Certified copy of driving record from DPS showing no driver safety course within the preceding 12 months
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Written notice to the court within 20 calendar days of the date of the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days (case deferred for 90 days; certificate and documents must be presented to the court within that period).
- •Court is physically located at the Forney Justice Center, 331 S FM 548, Forney, TX 75126 (not City Hall); mailing address P.O. Box 826
- •If under 17, the request must be made in open court with a parent or guardian present
- •If cited for a child not secured in a seat belt/child safety seat, a special driving safety course with 4 hours of child passenger safety seat training is required
- •Ineligible if you hold (or held at time of offense) a commercial driver's license, or completed a driver safety course within the preceding 12 months
