To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Copy of proof of financial responsibility (insurance showing you as an insured driver)
  • Written statement requesting to take a driving safety course, or the court's DSC request form
  • Written plea of guilty or no contest
  • Payment of court costs and administrative fee ($144 standard / $169 school zone)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • TDLR-approved 6-hour course completion certificate
  • certified copy of your driving record (Type 3A) from Texas DPS

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • Request deadline: On or before your appearance date
  • Completion window: 90 days — both the course completion certificate and the certified driving record must be returned to the Court on or before the 90th day to have the citation dismissed.
  • Eligibility (verbatim): valid non-CDL Texas driver's license or active-duty military; insurance with your name on the policy; no DSC in the last 12 months from citation date; not speeding 25+ mph over the limit or 95 mph or more.
  • Not eligible for construction-zone violations with workers present, passing a school bus, or leaving the scene of an accident.
  • Course may be taken anywhere in Texas as long as it is a TDLR-approved 6-hour course.
  • No personal checks accepted.
