DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court states the applicable state court costs and administrative fees are $114.10, or $139.10 if the offense is in a school zone — notably lower than the typical $144/$169. Paid at the time of the DSC request with a plea of no contest or guilty.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Both must be submitted together in person, by mail, or via the drop box next to the court's front doors by the due date on the driving safety order
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Original certificate of completion from the driving safety course
- •Certified Type 3A driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your scheduled court date — "If the request is not made by the court date the defendant may lose the option to take the course." If your case has been reset, you must request DSC on the reset court date in person only.
- •Completion window: Due date is set individually on the court's driving safety order (returned to you with your receipt and a driving-record application)..
- •A notarized affidavit is required for online and mail requests — the judge will not accept an un-notarized affidavit.
- •Not eligible if: violation in a construction zone with workers present, speed 25+ mph over the limit, passing a school bus, CDL holder, or a DSC taken in the 12 months before the citation date.
- •If the violation involved an accident, you must request DSC from the Prosecutor in person on your scheduled court date.
- •Juveniles 16 or younger must appear in court with a parent/legal guardian to request DSC.
