Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request and court cost must be submitted on or before the original appearance date on the citation; request may be made in person, by email, by counsel, or by certified mail
- •Completion window: Not stated on court website — Texas standard is 90 days; confirm with court.
- •Ineligible if you hold or held a CDL at the time of the offense, took a DSC within the prior 12 months, are currently taking a course for another violation, or are charged with: failure to give accident information, hit-and-run, passing a school bus, a serious traffic violation, a work-zone offense with workers present, speeding 25+ mph over the limit, or speeding 95 mph or more
- •Drivers under age 17 must appear in open court with a parent or guardian to make the DSC request
- •Motorcycle operators may be required to take a motorcycle operator training course; child safety seat violations require a special DSC with 4 hours of child passenger safety seat training
- •Eligibility requires a valid Texas driver's license or active military/military dependent status
