To Request Approval — Submit These

  • DSC Request Form (obtain from court's Forms page)
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Proof of financial responsibility (vehicle liability insurance with defendant's name on it)
  • Payment of court costs
  • Notarized Affidavit (standard Texas court requirement — confirm with court)
  • DSC Certificate of Course Completion (submitted by 90-day deadline after course completion)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • Type 3A Driving Record from Texas DPS (standard Texas court requirement)

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • On or before appearance date shown on citation; wait at least 72 hours after citation is issued before submitting any online/email request
  • You have 90 days from court approval (standard Texas statutory requirement under Art. 45.0511 CCP — confirm exact deadline with court) to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • Court explicitly states: 'Please wait 72 hours after citation is issued before submitting any online request.'
  • Requests accepted in person, by mail, OR by email — all three methods are permitted per official page.

  • Not eligible per the court's published list if you: hold a CDL, were speeding 25+ mph over the limit or 95+ mph regardless of limit, passed a school bus, were cited in a construction/work zone with workers present, were charged with an accident or leaving-the-scene offense, reckless driving, following too closely, or improper/erratic lane change — or if you took a DSC in the preceding 12 months or are currently enrolled in one.
