How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Driving Safety Course (DSC) Request form
- •Signed and notarized Affidavit for Driving Safety Course
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Copy of current insurance policy listing you as a covered driver
- •Court administrative fee (money order only if paying by mail; contact court for total)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •uniform certificate of completion from a TEA/TDLR-approved driving safety course
- •certified copy of your driving record from Texas DPS (Type 3A)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made on or before the appearance date shown on your ticket
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date the affidavit is notarized to complete the course and submit the certificate and certified Type 3A driving record.
- •Affidavit must be notarized; defendant pleads guilty/no contest and elects DSC.
- •Not eligible if: speeding 25+ mph over limit, no insurance, leaving the scene of a collision, passing a school bus, moving violation in a construction zone with workers present, CDL holder, no driver's license or out-of-state license.
- •Not eligible if you took a DSC for a traffic offense within the last 12 months.
- •Driving record must be the certified Type 3A from Texas DPS.
