DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs and reimbursement fee of $144.00 ($169.00 if in a school zone) must be submitted to the court with the DSC request; the $10.00 reimbursement fee portion is non-refundable.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license (with request)
- •Copy of current liability insurance card (with request)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (court copy)
- •Certified copy of driving record (Type 3A) from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Before your appearance date listed on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 calendar days from the effective date of the order — NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.
- •Verbatim from court form: 'YOU MUST COMPLETE YOUR DRIVING SAFETY COURSE AND SUBMIT YOUR DRIVING SAFETY COURSE CERTIFICATE AND DRIVING RECORD TO THE COURT' — the ticket cannot be dismissed without BOTH documents on file.
- •Defendant pleads No Contest and waives jury trial when electing DSC deferred disposition.
- •Defendant is ORDERED to appear for a SHOW CAUSE/COMPLIANCE HEARING at 8:30 a.m. (typically second Thursday of the month) unless excused in writing prior to the hearing.
- •Court advises ordering the certified driving record IMMEDIATELY; you do not need it before taking the course.
