How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Sworn Request for Driver Safety Course (DSC) form with written plea of Guilty or No Contest
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license or permit
- •Proof of Texas liability insurance valid on the date of the request, with your name on the policy
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •'COURT' copy of the DSC certificate of completion
- •certified copy of your driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Within 20 business days from the date the offense occurred
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date the request is approved to provide the court the completion certificate and certified driving record.
- •Do not take the course until you have obtained permission from the court
- •Not eligible if charged with speeding more than 25 mph over the posted limit
- •Not eligible with a commercial driver's license, if a DSC was completed in the 12 months before the offense, or if currently taking a DSC for another citation
- •Disqualifying charges include failure to give information at an accident scene, fleeing/eluding police, passing a school bus, and construction zone violations with workers present
