How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Completed Request for Driver Safety Course form (sworn statement, plea of no contest)
- •Photocopy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Photocopy of proof of Texas liability insurance valid on the date of the request
- •Payment of state costs and administrative fee (call court to confirm amount)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •'COURT' copy of DSC certificate AND Texas DPS driving record, both within 90 days of approval
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be postmarked on or before the initial appearance/due date printed on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date the request is approved by the Court — defendant must provide both the COURT copy of the DSC certificate and a Texas DPS driving record.

- •Form requires the Court's permission BEFORE taking the course: 'I must receive the Court's permission BEFORE taking the course.'
- •Form is a sworn no-contest plea.
- •Ineligible if speeding more than 24 mph over the limit, if holding a CDL in any state, or if DSC was completed for dismissal within the preceding 12 months.
