How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Notarized Affidavit for Driving Safety Course
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certificate of completion from a TDLR state-approved driving safety course
- •Type 3A certified driving record from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Written notice to the court required within 20 calendar days of the date of the citation
- •Completion window: Typically 90 days from court approval (standard Texas practice — confirm with court).
- •Court warns: 'Do not take a DSC course without first obtaining permission from the Court.'
- •Eligibility: valid Texas (non-CDL) driver's license or permit (active-duty military and immediate family excepted), proof of insurance, no DSC completion in the 12 months before the citation date, and not charged with speeding 25+ mph over the limit.
- •Requires a notarized affidavit.
