DSC Court Fees
⚠ Payment must be made by the due date on the documentation mailed to you via United States Postal Service.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Application for Driving Safety Course (online, by mail, or in person)
- •Plea of No Contest or Guilty
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit
- •Valid proof of Texas financial responsibility (insurance ID card)
- •Payment of the DSC fee ($144, or $169 for a school zone offense)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of Texas driving record (Type 3A) from the Texas Department of Public Safety in Austin
- •Driving Record Request Form (available at court or downloadable from cor.net)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Submit the Application for Driving Safety on or before the appearance date on your citation by 5:00 p.m. CST (in person, in writing, or online). The due date on the documentation mailed via USPS governs fee payment.
- •You have 90 days from court approval to complete the course and submit all documents.
- •Must not have taken a driving safety course for ticket dismissal within the past 12 months prior to the date of the citation.
- •If citation lists multiple violations, DSC is only available online for one violation; must appear in person for multiple violations.
- •Online payments require defendant to waive right to jury trial and enter a plea of No Contest or Guilty.
- •If operating a motorcycle at time of offense, must complete a course under the motorcycle operator training and safety program approved by the state agency under Chapter 662, TRC.
