DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the court's official Dismissals page: $144.00 if the offense was not committed in a school zone; $169.00 if it was — the school-zone rate applies to all offenses, not just speeding. Payable to City of Grand Prairie (check/money order for mail requests). Separate from course tuition.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas Driver's License
- •Current proof of Texas liability insurance
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (signed)
- •Type 3A Texas Driving Record (from TX DPS)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •On or before the appearance date shown on your citation
- •You have a 90-day period (from the date of judgment) to complete the driving safety course and submit all documents.
- •Official eligibility per gptx.org: must have a valid Texas driver's license (commercial license holders are ineligible) and current proof of Texas liability insurance.
- •Drivers may only take DSC once per 12-month period for ticket dismissal — not once per calendar year.
- •Ineligible violations per the court: speeding 25 mph or more over the posted limit, passing a stopped school bus, a moving violation within a posted construction zone while workers are present, leaving the scene of an accident, fleeing police, and Penal Code or City Ordinance offenses.
- •The DSC request MUST be made on or before the appearance date on the citation — this right is forfeited if not requested in time.
