DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court states fees 'range from $144-169' — you must contact the court clerk's office to find out exactly how much you must pay. Fee is due with the request, along with proof of insurance and a valid Texas Driver's License.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Notarized affidavit (not needed if you completed your initial setup in person — it is already on file)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified certificate of completion from a TDLR-approved driving safety course (requires your signature)
- •Certified copy of your driving record (Type 3A) from the Texas Department of Public Safety
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your first appearance date OR within 20 working days from the date of your citation
- •Completion window: Not published — after approval the court mails a packet stating exactly what to submit and by when; do not begin the course before receiving the court's order granting your request.
- •Must plead guilty or no contest and pay the fee at the time of request
- •Only sign up for a class AFTER you receive an order from the court granting your request
- •Wait for the court's information packet before starting the course or other requirements
- •Eligibility: valid Texas Driver's License required (active military may substitute proof of active service); not eligible if you took a DSC in the past 12 months (any state for active military); speeding must not be more than 24 mph over the limit; no CDL holders (current or at time of offense); ineligible if offense occurred in a construction zone with workers present
