DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court cost and administrative fee must be paid by money order; $144.00 standard or $169.00 if the violation occurred in a school zone. Driving record from DPS costs an additional $10.00 by mail or $12.00 online.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license or permit
- •Completed personal data sheet (court form)
- •Completed plea form (court form)
- •Affidavit completed and signed before a Notary Public (court form)
- •Money order for $144.00 ($169.00 school zone) court cost and administrative fee
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion
- •Certified copy of Texas driving record (Type 3A) from DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: All documents must be provided to the court no later than the appearance date on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course and provide the court with the certificate of completion and a certified copy of your Texas driving record.
- •Verbatim from court instructions: 'IF YOU WISH TO REQUEST THE DRIVING SAFETY COURSE YOU CAN DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AND MAIL THEM TO THE COURT.'
- •The court will send further instructions upon receiving all required documents.
- •Course must be state-certified: 'The class on Fort Hood is not certified by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.'
- •Disqualifications: completed a DSC within the past 12 months, speeding 25+ mph over the limit, or holding a commercial driver's license.
