DSC Court Fees
⚠ Per the court's DSC page: violations before 12/31/2019 are $134 ($159 school zone); violations after 01/01/2020 are $144 ($169 school zone).
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Sworn Request for Driver Safety Course (notarized affidavit of eligibility)
- •Valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of valid Texas liability insurance (in effect on both the citation date and the request date)
- •Payment of the fee
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •After course approval: court certificate of completion from a TEA/TDLR-approved course
- •After course approval: certified copy of your Texas DPS driving record
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Notarized affidavit of eligibility must be filed with the court by your Initial Appearance date
- •Completion window: 90 days after court approval to provide the completion certificate and certified driving record.
- •Nine eligibility conditions apply, including: plea of guilty or no contest, valid Texas driver's license, valid liability insurance, not speeding more than 24 mph over the limit, not in a construction zone, no CDL, not currently taking DSC for another citation, and no DSC completion on your record in the preceding 12 months.
- •Disqualifying violations include passing a school bus, fleeing police, hit-and-run/failure to render aid.
- •A court clerk will notarize the court's affidavit at no extra charge if you appear in person.
- •Court site lists no online/email DSC submission method; call the court to confirm options other than in-person filing.
