DSC Court Fees
⚠ Fee due at time of request. In person: personal check, money order, cashier's check, or credit card (2.19% processing fee). By mail: check/money order/cashier's check only — no credit card payments accepted with mailed applications.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Signed DSC course completion certificate (state-approved 6-hour course)
- •With the initial request: copy of valid Texas driver's license, proof of current Texas liability insurance listing you as an insured driver, and payment (mailed application must be notarized)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Certified copy of driving record ($12.00 from DPS) — submitted together with the certificate
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request (application), required notarized documents, and payment must be received by the court on or before the appearance/answer date listed on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from approval to complete the 6-hour course and submit the completion certificate and certified driving record together.
- •Verbatim court warning: 'DO NOT TAKE THE COURSE, PAY ONLINE OR REQUEST YOUR DRIVING RECORD UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED NOTICE FROM THE COURT THAT YOUR APPLICATION / REQUEST HAS BEEN APPROVED.'
- •Approval or denial is mailed within 10 business days of receipt; 'INCOMPLETE REQUESTS WILL BE DENIED.'
- •Application is a sworn No Contest plea that must be notarized when submitted by mail.
- •Eligibility: no DSC in the 12 months preceding the offense; not currently taking a course for another citation; not charged with speeding 25+ mph over the limit or driving over 90 mph; no construction-zone offense; no accident at time of citation; valid Texas DL (no CDL).
