DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs and administrative fees; payable by cash, check, money order, Mastercard, or Visa. Court warns NOT to pay online when requesting DSC — online payment will result in a conviction on your driving record.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Proof of insurance showing requester as a listed driver on the policy
- •Signed affidavit stating no driver safety course taken in the past 12 months
- •Plea of No Contest or Guilty
- •Payment of $144.00 court costs/administrative fees ($169.00 if school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •signed certificate of completion of the driver safety course
- •certified driving record from Texas DPS
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the appearance date on the citation (in person or by mail); phone calls do not constitute an official appearance
- •Completion window: 90 days from the initial request to submit the signed certificate of completion and certified driving record; a show cause hearing will be scheduled if the court does not receive required documents within the 90-day period.
- •Do not take a driver safety course before receiving permission from the Court
- •Do not pay online when requesting DSC — online payment results in a conviction on your driving record
- •Ineligible if you hold a Commercial Driver's License
- •Ineligible for speeding 25+ MPH over the limit or speeds greater than 95 MPH, and certain serious violations (construction zone, passing a school bus, reckless driving, fleeing police, accident/failure to render aid)
