To Request Approval — Submit These

  • Signed (court copy) Uniform Certificate of Course Completion from a TDLR-approved Driving Safety Course
  • Completed and signed Driver's Safety Course Affidavit (available at https://mckinneytexas.org/DocumentCenter/View/63/Request-for-Driving-Safety-Course)

After Completing the Course — Submit These

  • Certified copy of Type 3A Driving Record from Texas Department of Public Safety

Important Deadlines & Local Rules

  • On or before the appearance date shown on the citation
  • You have 90 days from court approval of DSC request to complete the course and submit all documents.
  • McKinney's official affidavit states: 'WITHIN 90 DAYS of this request, I must RETURN TWO (2) DOCUMENTS' — the signed DSC completion certificate AND the Type 3A driving record.
  • DSC request is handled through the 'Resolve My Citation' online portal by selecting 'Explore Options' — the portal will only display DSC/deferred/compliance options if the defendant meets qualifications.
  • If defendant fails to present required documents, they will be required to 'appear before the Court to show cause'; failure to appear will result in a final conviction and obligation to pay the fine.
