DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court's official DSC page states $144.00 for violations outside of a school zone and $169.00 for violations within a school zone (does not include the cost of the driving safety course itself).
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Written notice/court form requesting the driving safety course
- •A colored copy of your valid Texas driver's license (non-commercial)
- •Copy of your motor vehicle insurance policy listing you as an insured driver
- •Payment of the DSC fee ($144 / $169 school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •Copy of your Texas driver record, type 3A (order online at www.texas.gov)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be submitted within 10 days of receiving your citation; contact the court if you need more time
- •Verbatim local rule: 'Violators 16 years of age or younger may not request to take a driving safety course without making an appearance in court accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.'
- •Eligibility: valid non-commercial Texas driver's license; not currently taking or signed up for a DSC through any other court; no DSC dismissal within 12 months of the citation date; proof of insurance as an insured driver.
