How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license (or proof of active-duty U.S. military service)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance card) listing you as a driver
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •After the course: certificate of completion plus a certified copy of your TX DPS driving record, submitted within 90 days of your request
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request the driving safety course by your court appearance date or you may lose the right to take it
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date of your request to complete the course and provide proof of completion with a certified copy of your driving record.
- •Court temporarily relocated to the Alvin Annex Building, 302 West House Street, Alvin, TX 77511, effective January 12, 2026 (anticipated return to 216 W Sealy St in ~24–48 months).
- •City website changed from alvin-tx.gov to alvin.gov; court email is alvinmc@alvin.gov.
- •Do NOT pay the citation online if you want DSC — paying is a conviction; request DSC in person before taking any course.
- •Not eligible if cited for: speeding 25+ mph over the limit, no insurance, leaving the scene of a collision, passing a school bus, or a construction-zone violation with workers present.
