DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court instructs defendants to call (210) 695-5903 to verify the exact amount owed before paying; do not pay online until the court grants permission to take the course.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Request for a Driving Safety Course form with guilty or no-contest plea (cause number = citation number)
- •Photocopy of valid Texas driver's license (not a CDL)
- •Photocopy of current insurance card with defendant's name listed (proof of financial responsibility)
- •Notarized affidavit stating no DSC taken/in progress in the preceding 12 months (notarization waived if signed in person at court)
- •Payment of court costs ($144 standard / $169 school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •uniform certificate of completion AND certified Texas DPS driving record (Type 3A), both due by the 90th day
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before the court appearance date shown on the citation
- •Completion window: 90 days from the request to complete the course and submit the certificate, affidavit, and DPS driving record; due date is written at the bottom of the request form; early submission means early dismissal.
- •DO NOT take the course before making arrangements with the court — explicit warning on official instructions.
- •Not eligible if speeding 25+ mph over the limit, holding a CDL at time of offense, or for violations including passing a school bus, reckless driving, hit and run, no insurance, or license/plate/inspection violations.
- •Active-duty military and dependents may use an out-of-state driver's license with military ID, proof of insurance, and payment of court costs.
- •Mailed requests MUST be sent via certified mail to P.O. Box 507, Helotes, TX 78023 (physical: 12951 Bandera Rd).
