DSC Court Fees
⚠ Payment due within 24 hours of request approval; failure to pay returns case to original docket or triggers a show cause hearing. No payment plans. Pay via Municipal Online Services portal — manually enter the DSC amount, do not pay the full shown balance.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Class C (non-commercial) Texas driver license (active military may substitute state license + Military ID)
- •Proof of Texas minimum liability insurance in your name
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion (uniform certificate from a TDLR-approved 6-hour course)
- •Certified DPS driving record, Type 3A
- •Affidavit stating you are not taking and have not completed a DSC within the past 12 months that is not shown on your driving record
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request the option, submit the affidavit/application, and pay the fee on or before your court appearance date — and BEFORE taking the class
- •Completion window: 90 days from court approval to complete the course and submit the Certificate of Completion and Type 3A driving record (exact date printed on court documents).
- •Verbatim court language: "You must complete this request and submit all documentation required BEFORE YOU CAN TAKE THE CLASS."
- •Defendant must call the court at 210-658-8021 to verify receipt of the request — court email approval notice is sent if eligible.
- •Ineligible: CDL holders; speeding 25+ mph over limit; school bus passing; accidents with vehicle damage; failure to render aid; work zone violations with workers present; reckless driving; mandatory-appearance offenses; DSC taken within prior 12 months or pending in another Texas court.
- •Requesting DSC requires entering a plea of guilty or no contest.
