DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs plus administrative fee: $144 outside a school zone, $169 in a school zone. A 5% fee is added to credit card transactions at the clerk window.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas non-commercial driver's license (or active-duty military ID)
- •Proof of current insurance / financial responsibility
- •Written request using the court's Driver Safety Course request form
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •driving safety course completion certificate
- •certified Type 3A driving record (order only AFTER court approval)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your scheduled court appearance date
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course, obtain the driving record, and return both to the court.
- •Do NOT order your driving record until the court has granted permission to take the driving safety course.
- •Ineligible if: violation occurred in an active construction zone, speed 25+ mph over the limit or 95 mph or more, passing a school bus, hit-and-run, CDL holder, or a DSC dismissal was used within the past 12 months.
- •5% surcharge added to credit card transactions at the clerk window.
