DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs plus administrative fee. Payment by cash, check, money order, debit or credit card (Visa/MasterCard); a 4% fee is added to all debit/credit card transactions.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Written statement requesting the driving safety course (court-provided request form available)
- •Valid Texas driver's license (non-CDL) or military ID
- •Copy of proof of financial responsibility (insurance)
- •Payment of court costs plus administrative fee at time of request
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •certificate of completion plus a Certified Driving Record Type 3A from Texas DPS, returned to the court
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Must request on or before the appearance date shown on your citation
- •Completion window: 90 days to complete the course, obtain your certified driving record (Type 3A), and return both to the court.
- •Not eligible if: speeding 25+ mph over the limit or 95+ mph, violation in a construction zone with workers present, school bus violation, leaving the scene of an accident, holding a CDL (active-duty military and their spouses/dependents excepted), or DSC taken within the past year.
- •A phone call does not constitute an appearance; requests must be in writing (email or in person).
- •Online portal is for paying citations, not for submitting DSC requests.
