DSC Court Fees
⚠ $144.00 for non-school-zone violations or $169.00 for school zone violations, paid in lieu of fine at the time of the request.
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Driving Safety Course Request-Affidavit (no-contest plea; notarized unless submitted in person)
- •Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- •Copy of current proof of insurance showing you as a covered driver
- •Court fee: $144.00 (non-school zone) or $169.00 (school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •certificate of completion and certified driving record (standard requirements)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your appearance date — 'LATE OR INCOMPLETE REQUESTS WILL BE REJECTED'
- •Completion window: Typically 90 days from court approval (standard Texas practice — confirm with court).
- •Do NOT take the course before obtaining court approval — once approved, instructions are mailed to the address you provide.
- •DSC allowed for only ONE violation per request; eligibility requires a Texas driver's license, no DSC dismissal in the prior 12 months, speeding under 25 mph over the limit, no CDL, and no construction-zone-with-workers or school-bus-passing violations.
- •Mailed affidavits must be notarized; in-person submissions do not require a notary.
- •If under 25 at time of offense and requesting deferred disposition, a driving safety course is a mandatory condition of the deferral.
