DSC Court Fees
⚠ Court costs payable by money order (mail) or cash/Visa/MasterCard in person; paid at time of DSC request
How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Driver's Safety Course Request Form & Affidavit (court PDF)
- •Proof of financial responsibility (liability insurance) valid on the day of request
- •Valid Texas driver's license presented at time of request
- •Plea of guilty or nolo contendere with the request
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •DSC Certificate of Completion
- •copy of driving record from Texas DPS (Type 3A)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: Request must be made before expiration of the 12-day period to appear shown on the citation, in person or in writing
- •Completion window: 90 days from the date the request is granted to complete the course and submit the certificate and DPS driving record.
- •Not eligible if you took a DSC for a traffic offense within the last 12 months or are currently taking one for another violation
- •Not eligible if cited for speeding 25+ mph over the limit
- •Not eligible for Commercial Driver's License holders
- •Upon timely completion the court dismisses the case and reports to Texas DPS for the driving record
