How to Request DSC Approval
To Request Approval — Submit These
- •Valid Texas driver's license or permit
- •Proof of financial responsibility/insurance listing you as a driver
- •Signed affidavit (Request for Driver's Safety Course form) stating you have not completed and are not currently taking a DSC within the past 12 months
- •Guilty or no contest plea with waiver of jury trial
- •Payment of the $144 fee ($169 school zone)
After Completing the Course — Submit These
- •TDLR-approved course completion certificate and certified copy of your driving record (Type 3A)
Important Deadlines & Local Rules
- •Request deadline: On or before your court appearance date (in person or by certified mail)
- •Completion window: 90 days — completion certificate, certified driving record (Type 3A), and DSC request must be returned to the court on or before the 90th day for dismissal.
